Did you know that Bill Murray is a Murray is a sleazy slacker, a hero to hipsters and an icon of the unemployed?  What this man symbolizes is far more ruinous than California’s buffet dinner of liberal socialist philosophies, homosexual lifestyles and pre-teen consumerism. No, what Bill Murray means to America is the acceptance and celebration of an ultimate apathy. He is a weak man, a murderer of lambs, a despicable hedonist who waves the white flag welcoming the end of American moral and economic primacy. He is a harbinger of our death as a culture, the death of that preëminent philosophy of faith married to capitalism that has saved the world countless times from repression and annihilation. Bill Murray is a fatal disease and the sad news we bring you today is that your children have been infected.

Surprised to hear all of this about lovable, great, extremely funny Bill Murray?  Yeah, me too. A Christian website has popped up with the message “Boycott Bill Murray For A Better America“(which is where the rantings about Murray written above came from).  If writer Stephenson Billings is truly serious about Murray being the coming of the end times, he needn’t stage a boycott. Murray is already legendary for his aversion to working. He has no agent. He has no publicist. He has a 1-800 number that people can call to pitch him projects, and there will probably come a day when he never check that number again. He has dedicated himself to remaining fiercely outside the Hollywood machine, so I find it odd that a Christian rabble rouser online would single out MURRAY for ostracizing when there are so many better targets to choose from.

But what do I know.  I grew up watching Bill Murray movies.  I love the guy.  I clearly have already been infected.

Refute has always been one of the most misused words in the English language. Yet Sarah Palin managed to take the misuse of the word to a whole new level when she said the word “refudiate” on Fox News last week during an interview.  At first she seemed embarrassed by the slip but later decided to by proud of creating a whole new word, even comparing herself to the likes of Shakespeare and … yes, George Bush.

Palin used the word during an interview on Fox News when she urged Barack and Michelle Obama to “refudiate” claims that the Tea Party is racist.

She used the word again over the weekend on her Twitter page.  Joining a debate about an Islamic Center planned to be built near the World Trade Center in New York she asked peaceful Muslims to “refudiate” the plans.  That tweet has been removed, but not before some users had the chance to grab a screen shot.

Later Palin decided to fully embrace the word by comparing herself to Shakespeare and using a common Bushism (misunderestimate: commonly used by George Bush as in “don’t misunderestimate me”). The single amazing tweet sums up her thoughts on the matter perfectly in one neat little package.

The Minnesota Independent reports that Bachmann gave the statement during her key note speech to the Western Conservative Summit in Denver Friday night.  The Republican congresswoman told 600 conservative voters that electing “constitutional conservatives” was the only way to escape the “tyranny” by Democrats over the past 18 months.

“‘We are determined to live free or not at all. And we are resolved that posterity shall never reproach us with having brought slaves into the world,’” Bachmann read from founding father John Jay, ending her reading with the statement, “We will talk a little bit about what has transpired in the last 18 months and would we count what has transpired into turning our country into a nation of slaves.”

Just one hour ago news broke on the Star Magazine’s website that Al Gore and Larry David’s ex-wife, Laurie David, have been having an affair for the past two years.  I found out via Twitter from the editor of City Pages, Kevin Hoffman.

The Star is reporting that Al & Laurie went from friends to lovers and the affair could not be avoided. Um … ok … so why were Al Gore and Laurie David such bosom buddies in the first place?  Laurie David is an outspoken Hollywood environmentalist and a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council who makes frequent appearances at political events.  She co-produced the Academy Award winning documentary about Gore and his campaign against global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Apparently, according to the National Enquirer, Tipper always believed that Al was cheating but could never prove it.

“I think she’s always believed there was something going on between Al and many of the women in his life,” the unnamed insider is quoted as saying.

Al, 62, and Tipper, 61, were high school sweethearts.

Their split, announced two weeks ago, shocked many Gore associates who had always thought the marriage one of the most solid in politics.

Karl Rove has a new memoir out titled Courage and Consequence.  In it he tells the story of how he became so passionate about politics and wanting to fight liberalism to the bitter end.  One story gives particular insight into the man who many believed is the puppet master behind the modern Republican Party.  At the age of nine in 1960 he was a self professed political nerd and wanted Nixon to beat JFK in the upcoming Presidential election.  He decided to put a Nixon bumper sticker on the basket of his bicycle.  That was until, get this, a little girl from his neighborhood who was a JFK supporter decided to beat the stuffing out of him bloodying his nose and his ego.  Rove describes the incident as, “losing his first political battle” and says he, “never liked losing a political fight since.”

In an article about this subject the Gawker asks, “Who was this leftist girl child to give him a bloody nose?  We must find this girl and make her into a folk hero  … The little girl knew not what she did, that her fists would launch a thousand campaigns and a war in Iraq. All she knew was that Karl Rove was a snot-nosed punk and she could take him down with one hand tied behind her pigtails. And for that, we salute her.”

Hereobuilders.com, the company responsible for the sexypants Michele Bachman action figure, is back with an anatomically correct action figure of Senator elect Scott Brown (R-MA).  This is not your old school Ken doll, I repeat, this is anatomically correct and comes naked except for a well placed fig leaf.  One just has to wonder what kind of plastic madness is going on under that fig leaf.  Why herobuilders.com, why?  There is a reason that action figures aren’t anatomically correct. The action figure is called “Scott Brown Cosmo Man” and sells for $37.50.  I know what I am getting my lady friends for Valentines day.

The Boston Herald ran a story about the new action figure, including an interview with Herobuilders.com’s Emil Vicale. The three different types of Scott Brown action figure were addressed, along with some details of the “Cosmo Man”:

There’s the “2012 Executive Scott Brown,” dressed ever-so-presidentially in a suit. Then there’s the “Scott Brown Everyman,” dressed in a white T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. Which, if you ask us, makes the senator-elect look like a member of the Log Cabin Club! Where’s the manly barn jacket????

But best of all, is the anatomically correct Scott Brown Cosmo Doll, with rippling biceps, a Situationesque six pack and an oh-so-demure fig leaf!

“We thought maybe you women would like that one,” Vicale laughed. “He’s a good looking, sexy guy and we wanted to show different facets from his life.” ‘

Um … they think the “Everyman” action figure is the one that makes Scott Brown look gay?  Because I’m pretty sure it’s the one where he’s naked with a fig leaf that’s the gay one.

I am sure we can expect many more jokes based on Scott Browns appearance over the next few years.  Here is a clip for last week’s Saturday Night Live where John Hamm plays Scott Brown breaking into a meeting with the top Senate Democrats.

Barbara Boxer (D-CA) imagines a half naked Scott Brown dressed as a doctor dancing and talking to her, “Oh, hi Barbara, how is your Health Care plan going? I’m against the public option but I can offer you a pubic option.”

Lynn Torgerson is running for Congress in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District against Representative Keith Ellison (D).  I live in the 5th District of Minnesota, own a home in Minneapolis, and am proud to call Keith my Congressman.  Lynn Torgerson also lives in the 5th District of Minnesota, owns a home in Minneapolis, but she is not proud to call Keith her Congressman.  In fact, she has a huge problem with Representative Ellison.  Her problem with Keith Ellison, as she states on her campaign website is:

“Keith Ellison is a Muslim, a person who was raised Christian and converted to Islam. … Now, with all due respect, America, and its people, should be lauded for its goal of promoting to public office and other high ranks, people of color, women, minorities, etc. However, quite frankly, in our zeal, we simply went too far with Keith Ellison. Keith Ellison simply is not a proper person to have in our federal government.”

In “The Issues” section of her webpage Torgerson has a long, rambling section titled “Freedom of Speech/Freedom of Religion” where she asks the question “What do I know of Islam?”  Things she sites as examples of her expert knowledge on the subject of Islam are:

• her observations of Muslim women in downtown Minneapolis
• having heard that 911 happened
• reading the book Infidel
• being a Christian and not wanting to kill people
• knowledge of the Ft. Hood killings
• having an Egyptian friend

How any of these things make you an expert on Islam I do not know.  How any of these things make you qualified to be in the United States Congress I really don’t know.  Why someone would decide to run for office and then devote most of their campaign website to bigoted rantings is beyond me.  I’m hear to tell you Lynne Torgerson, you are not getting my vote.

One of Conan O’Brien’s best sketches since taking over The Tonight Show has been when he has William Shatner come on to read thing Sarah Palin has written.  Usually taken from Palin’s Twitter feed and read like poetry over a jazzy music background, Shatner makes Palin’s words sound like something a moron writes trying to sound deep.

Last night Sarah Palin made a surprise appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and gave William Shatner the smackdown he deserves!  Shatner showed up to read Palin’s Going Rouge.  Palin walks on stage when he is finished and reads parts of Shatner’s book Up Til Now.  First of all she proved that she can read from a teleprompter as well as Shatner can.  Second of all she proved that she’s not the only one who sounds like a moron when you read select excerpts of a book they have written.
