TREND REPORT: Did You Think Hoodies Were A Fashion No? Think Again.

One only has to watch an episode of What Not To Wear on TLC to hear hosts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly bemoan the evils of the hoodie.  Worn only by college students and the style blind it is hard to believe hoodie is having it’s day in the fashion sun.

Nicolas Ghesquière, designer at Balenciaga sent a sleeveless hoodie down the runway to start out his latest show.  Designer Gareth Pugh also sent hoodies down the Paris catwalk last season.  So how does a person in the real world wear a hoodie and look like a fashion “do” instead of a definite “don’t”?

Do wear a hoodie in a luxury fabric.  This trend is not about looking like you just came from the gym. Yes, sportswear is having a comeback, but that doesn’t mean that you need to be seen in head to toe work-out gear.  The new sportswear look is about luxury redefined and the new hoodie comes in luxurious fabrics such as cashmere.  Traditional gym colors such as heather gray are appropriate but brights are great too.  Definitely don’t wear printed hoodies-ala-douchebag such as the Ed Hardy variety.

Do give your hoodie an urban street-wear twist.  Leather hoodies are going to be huge this year.  The new leather jackets have hoods on them.  The new hoodies are made of leather.  You don’t even have to have sleeves on your leather hoodie.  I’m telling you people, this is the new way to wear a hoodie in 2010.  Get on it. Now.

There are several advantages to shopping online, the first one being the ability to shop at a time that is convenient to you, not just when the shops are open. The second advantage of shopping online is that goods are often cheaper as the seller does not have the costs of running a shop and having to pay wages to salespeople, insurance and all of the other running costs of a real world business.
