Sexypants Website BeautifulPeople.com Kicks Off 5,000 “Fatties”
Did you indulge in holiday treats over the past few months? Possibly put on a few pounds? It looks like thousands of members of the dating website BeautifulPeople.com did as well and now they are paying the price. I described the concept of BeautifulPeople.com in an earlier post, a dating website where members vote on pictures submitted by people wishing to become new members, and only 1 in 15 people who submit pictures make it as members on the site.
What led to the post-holiday purging of members? It turns out that some members had been posting pictures of themselves partaking in gluttonous festivities looking not particularly beautiful and actually sometimes (gasp) chubby! Upon seeing the pictures other members of the site demanded action be taken immediately.
Robert Hintze, the company’s founder told the Guardian the following about the removal of members, “Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.”
Members who were expelled from the site were encouraged to reapply once they have gotten themselves back in shape and therefore are once again beautiful enough to participate on the website.
